A letter to the future
The launch of the construction of the High Tech Academy – an innovation school for 540 students took place on June 1, 2019, on the International Children's Day on the territory of the construction site of the Koktobe city residential complex in Almaty. It is planned to complete the construction of the new school building in 2020.
The ceremony began with the laying of a time capsule with a message to future generation of schoolchildren. We can only guess the content of the “letter to the future”, as it is a secret message. High Tech Academy time capsule will be opened in 2044 by future students of the school.
The ceremony was attended by: Bibigul Asylova, Vice-Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mikko Kivikoski, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Finnish Republic in Kazakhstan, Yerkin Tatishev, founder of High Tech Academy, chairman of the board of directors of the KUSTO group, Tatiana Basso, director of High Tech Academy, and students of the school.
The event was also attended by the deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament Irina Smirnova, a public figure Aruzhan Sain, the mountaineer Maksut Jumayev.
“With High Tech Academy we are creating a new educational approach in Kazakhstan. It will be easy and interesting to study not only the specific sciences, but also to explore the world and find the right place in it. We want our children to have the opportunity to dream and experiment, not be afraid of mistakes, learn to correct them and go forward” said the founder of the school, Yerkin Tatishev.
After the capsule has been put, a school construction countdown timer on the electronic scoreboard was set on by participants.
High Tech Academy
High Tech Academy was founded in 2017 by Yerkin Tatishev, a shareholder of the Kusto Group. The school created 31 jobs, including 21 teachers, among them 6 foreign experts. Each year, High Tech Academy gives away 5 grants to children from low-income and large families. Since the school has been founded, 400 million tenge has been invested. It is planned to spend more than 5 billion tenge on the construction of a new school camp. High Tech Academy plans to receive the status of an international school in 2020-2021 academic year.High Tech Academy is the first school in Kazakhstan with Finnish education and a project-based learning method. The idea of authors from Parviainen bureau is based on the Finnish methodology of learning, which involves constant physical activity in the learning process. Therefore, the project foresees a lot of free space, to give an opportunity to combine the theoretical study of academic material with physical activities, so that students can freely walk within the study space, which is divided into different activity and recreation zones.
