The city Arys, located in the Turkestan region of Kazakhstan, was founded in 1900 as a station on the Orenburg-Tashkent railway line.

On June 24, 2019, a series of explosions occurred at the military unit’s ammunition depot, after which the shock wave destroyed several nearby houses and industrial buildings, and the shells began to randomly take off into the peaceful sky, exploding in the air and on the ground. Over 40 thousand residents of the city have been evacuated to the cities Shymkent and Turkestan, 3 people were killed, 89 people were hospitalized. The cause of the explosions is being established.

As of today, according to the press service of the Turkestan region, “over 5700 war projectiles were found on the streets of Arys, 1,488 personnel and 189 pieces of equipment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are working on the site to eliminate the consequences of the emergency situation. The shells are being looked for by 43 groups of sappers with a total of 408 people; they are working to clear the area of Arys from unexploded ordnance, the railway station and the tracks, the territory of the military unit ”, therefore the return of residents to the city is now premature and unsafe.

Being a socially responsible company, KAZPETROL GROUP LLP could not remain aloof from this tragedy. In the morning of June 25, the GR and PR unit promptly set up a headquarters and announced a fundraising for rendering fraternal assistance to injured compatriots, which was supported by the team and management of the company. Employees of contracting organizations – Orda Stroy Service, Kulan Security and Mergen also joined the fundraising for humanitarian aid.

The funds allocated by KZPG and collected by its employees, as well as employees of contracting organizations, purchased a whole bus of necessary goods and products – paper towels, personal hygiene care products, diapers, baby food, non-perishable food products, like rice, sugar, pasta, canned food etc.

The representatives of the company Deputy General Director for GR & PR issues Batyrzhan Daulet, PR manager Meiramkul Khojashova, drivers of LLP Ordastroyservice Ayan Darabayev and Talgat Sangulov set out the same day to deliver the goods to the victims, and when having reached the destination at night, it turned out that nobody is allowed to enter the city Arys.

At the post of the nearby settlement Ak Zhol, the staff of the headquarters – the military and the media group, recommended going to the temporary camp of evacuated residents of Arys to Shymkent. Having received addresses and phone numbers, the team moved on.

At 2 o'clock in the morning the aid was delivered to the camp, located in school No. 54, where there are 2500 people under the care of the state, some of whom were taken to live to nearby families of caring people of Shymkent. The camp volunteers – young guys, students from different institutions, accepted the goods, and thanked for their assistance the delegation that arrived from Kyzylorda.
